mel and I have been hunting a couch for some time now. haunting the thrift store and checking craigslist. no luck until now. this beauty is from the coffee and tea house on duval. once the hangout of many a pedicab driver, now it's moving accross the street. this was a real test of the extracycle. in fact, it was so sketchy that it barely counts. but it was on the curb, now it's in our living room. yay!

one of the things I've always loved about cycling, is the way you can notice all of the detail of the city. doorways and graffitti. graphitti especially. I remember when I was a messenger in sf for I while, I would always look out for a guy named twist. tagging makes one fell like you are riding thru a comic book.

I just saw the outdoor art that banksky just pulled off in new orleans.

I always seem to forget the superhuman powers that biking lends me. the wind look so wet and cold, but as soon as you start riding, you glow from within. the radar looks all red and angry, but the island is really just getting a nice blow. I rode down to white street pier and the water was collecting from the waves that are crashing over the wall. the rain comes down in sheets. but back on duval street, people were intent on having a good time. the drag show at Aqua looked extra crowded. i guess it's not a good night for a clothing optional rooftop bar. the bike rode great tonight. big fat nasty hookworms on a long wheelbase.hot shower, cold beer, bed.

long time no see. i don't know. it's been crazy. first we were going to move to hawaii, then panama, but now we're back in key west. which I am very happy about. the island keeps revealing things to me. I feel I am still able to grow. and for us, it's so perfect for our new family. milo is growing up on the beach and on the back of a bike. mel and i get to work together. it's good. kinda got out of the blogging mode. but I'm reinspired by some that I'll list in a sec. they are all bike geeky. somehow I find myself on a tropical island riding a bike for a living and I feel a sense of gratitude to cycling in general. and now this crazy vision/movement is gaining momentum.

you guys might have noticed that I've been ignoring this blog and putting up kinda messy posts. 2 reasons. after living on a sailboat and being removed from that daily internet fix, I've come to see just how powerful a mind altering event the internet is. so I opted for bike rides and breath hold diving in my free time. and of course watching my son giggle. anyhow, I have been having a great time in key west and we've been making a living on bicycles for 2 years now. so I think it's time to give something back. so I'll be giving this blog more of a bike focus from now on. I'm trying to get some photos of the crazy key west bike style before we leave. we'll be going to alaska in june and then relocating to hawaii in july. stay tuned for more
